Weekend with the Bride

Now that Prince Charming has asked for your hand in marriage, let the wedding planning begin! Ridgeland is the perfect place to find the wedding dress of your dreams, outfit your wedding party, and register for wedding gifts – not to mention booking a venue. No need to stress – gather up your mom and besties and make your wedding planning an adventure.

Where to Stay

For your weekend of wedding planning and shopping, you’ll find Ridgeland’s hotels offer your group comfort and luxury. Conveniently located to all the shopping at The Township at Colony Park is Embassy Suites. Their two-room suites give you plenty of room to spread out your shopping bags and their complimentary Evening Reception is the perfect way to begin a night out on the town. The Hampton Inn & Suites, also at The Township, was designed with women in mind and you’ll see for yourself by the beautiful décor and host of amenities. There’s also TownePlace Suites by Marriott with all the amenities of home and close to everything to make your productive and fun.

Where to Shop

First check in to your hotel then double check your to-do list. The main attraction at any wedding is the bride -- and the bride’s gown. Be sure to book an appointment first so the bridal consultant will give you her full attention. Elle James Bridal features couture gowns and designers who will make your dream dress a reality. You’ll also want to visit Lauren Elizabeth Bridal & Boutique located in The Township at Colony Park. Having bridesmaids that look good and feel good is important to a successful wedding. Make an appointment at Bella Bridesmaids for modern and chic bridesmaid dresses. It’s important for the mother-of-the-bride to look good as well, so be sure to look at the offerings at The Wedding Shop at Dillard’s at Northpark Mall. After you’ve picked out the perfect dresses, be sure to get a make-up lesson from the talented skin care specialists at Amy Head Cosmetics.

While it’s important to look good, choosing a venue for the big event is near the top of the to-do list. In addition to churches of all denominations, Ridgeland has many unique and romantic spaces for the ceremony, reception or both. The Bill Waller Craft Center offers a space with a creative flair with its beautiful glass staircase worthy of a princess bride. Their outdoor area, close by the famous Natchez Trace Parkway offers another option. For a scenic view of the water, consider Reservoir Pointe, The Jackson Yacht Club, or The Lake House, all located on the scenic Barnett Reservoir.

And don’t forget planning for your happily-ever-after. You can set up your bridal registry at a number of fine merchants in Ridgeland, including The Everyday Gourmet, Belk  at Northpark Mall and the Bill Waller Craft Center and Williams-Sonoma.

What to Do

After all that planning, you may need a break. Stop in at Caet in Renaissance at Colony Park for a small plate and craft cocktail for a quick pick-me-up. Some pampering may be in order as well. Tired feet will be revived with a pedicure at Mani’s and Pedi’s in The Township at Colony Park.

You’ll probably want to allow more than one day to plan your perfect wedding. Start out early the second day with a hearty breakfast at Another Broken Egg in Renaissance at Colony Park. Pace yourself as you try on dresses and start your bridal registries. Weddings are supposed to be fun, so allow yourself and those helping you to spend some time to do something memorable. Enjoy nature on Ridgeland’s beautiful Multi-Purpose Trail or plan a cruise on the Rez on the Sweet Olive Tour Boat. End the evening reminiscing and enjoying each other’s company at Tico’s Steak House or Ely’s Restaurant and Bar.
