Artists from more than 25 states converge on Ridgeland for this juried art festival that includes clay, drawing/pastels, fiber, glass, jewelry, mixed media 2D and 3D, painting, photography, printmaking, sculpture and wood. This year’s feature artist is Michelle McDowell Smith from St. Johns, Florida. Michelle’s medium is mixed media and her piece A Mid-Summer’s Dance was chosen as the festival’s feature art and is part of her current body of work titled Of Land and Sky, Whimsical and Free. She was awarded the Judge’s Choice 2-D Mixed Media Award at the 2019 Ridgeland Fine Arts Festival.
The Ridgeland Fine Arts Festival has been recognized as Southeast Tourism Society’s Top 20 Events Champion and by AAA’s Southern Traveler as a Southern Travel Treasure.
This free event connects art and artists together with the public in a way that is both rewarding and fun. If you attend the 2020 Ridgeland Fine Arts Festival, you may take home a beautiful piece of artwork or jewelry, and you may take home an artist too when the child who came with you finds the spark for a lifelong passion at festival’s “Creative Craft Corner” sponsored by the Craftsmen’s Guild of Mississippi and the Bill Waller Craft Center. Here children will be able to make and take home their very own piece of artwork as well as see demonstrations of Guild artisans at work.
Festival attendees are surely to be impressed with the amount of young talent in our local area at the festival’s Student Art Gallery. This gallery features the artwork of area high school art students in Madison County.
