Check out this list of the Top 9 Things To Do
at the Bassmaster Elite Event:

1. Get up early. Start your day by watching the blast off and cheering for your favorite angler. Competitors will begin leaving Main Harbor at 6;15 a.m. each day after boat inspections. One of the best places to view the Elites heading out for the day is Red Dot Road near Madison Landing.

2. Take a ride. If you’re in the market for a new boat, outboard motor or just want to experience what it’s like to race across the water in the latest bass boat, well, that can happen. Nitro, Triton, Mercury, Skeeter and Yamaha will be providing free demo rides, but to participate, you need to stop by the Nitro, Triton or Yamaha booths to sign up.

3. Meet the pros. If you’re into bass fishing, one of your favorite anglers will likely be at this tournament. Attendees will have the opportunity to chat, take photos and collect autographs. Also, three of Mississippi’s own will be there. Former Bassmaster Classic champions Paul Elias of Laurel and Cliff Pace of Petal will be competing as well as Brock Mosley of Collinsville.

4. Tag along — from a distance. If you have access to a boat you have a front seat to the action. Spectators can follow the competitors as they fish and see what they’re catching and the techniques they use. All that is asked is be courteous and give them space because there is a lot of money at stake for these anglers.

5. Bring an appetite. What carnival would be complete without food? Food vendors will be on site so you can grab a bite to eat and something to drink. A beer garden will also be available.

6. Kick back. Saturday and Sunday will feature live Music at the Ready Mix music stage where there will be something for just about anyone. Metal rock band IV Shots will play on Saturday starting at approximately 1 p.m. and country singer Lindsey Cardinale will take the stage after Saturday’s weigh-in. Brewer and Hurd will play Sunday afternoon before the weigh-in.

7. See what’s new. If you want to see what’s new in fishing, take a walk through the Elite Series Sponsor Village. Boats, outboards, electronics, tires and wheels will be showcased for a firsthand look at some of the best offerings on the market. And there’s more to do than shop. Attendees can play games and win prizes as well as have their photos printed on the cover of Bassmaster Magazine.

8. Bring the kids. The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks will host the Outdoor Expo where the whole family can find something to enjoy on Saturday and Sunday. Kids can learn fishing basics, shoot bows at an archery range and see live animals from the Mississippi Museum of Natural Science and more. Other attractions include boating safety instruction, hunting and fishing license sales and biologists will be on hand to answer questions.

9. Feel the suspense. The weigh-ins are certainly among the biggest draws of the Elite Series and the winner will take home $100,000. Weigh-ins are scheduled to start at 3:15 p.m. each day and are expected to last about 90 minutes.
